Common Mistakes in Lubricating Rotary Drilling Rigs (Part 2)

The above text introduced several common mistakes in lubricating rotary drilling rigs. Today, Shandong Liqiang, a rotary drilling rig manufacturer, will continue to explain a few other aspects.#drill to drill into concrete#

I. Adding lubricating oil makes it dry faster!

Strictly speaking, this is a misunderstanding. Only fuel directly participates in the work. Adding lubricating oil generally refers to adding lubricating oil between the moving friction pairs, filling the raised areas and maintaining a certain thickness of lubricating oil film. This achieves the purpose of separating the two contacting surfaces of the friction pair, reducing frictional resistance and wear, and also has the functions of cooling parts and sealing. These functions of lubrication indirectly support the work of fuel.

II. Oil Leakage, Should I Replace the Seal?

In hydraulic systems, most oil leaks are caused by seal failure. Seals rely on elasticity (pressure) for sealing. After installation, without oil pressure, the seal's elasticity should provide pre-pressure to the contact surface, meaning its cross-section should have a certain degree of compression deformation. Under oil pressure, it is pressed to one side of the groove, relying on its elasticity to achieve a seal. When replacing seals, it is crucial to strictly follow the instructions and select seals of the same size; otherwise, proper tightness and other requirements cannot be guaranteed. Special attention should be paid to never using used seals. When using new seals, their surface quality should be carefully inspected. Only use seals that are free of pinholes, protrusions, cracks, grooves, and have sufficient elasticity. Carelessly replacing a leaking seal will definitely cause problems.

III. The Seal Model is Good, Can I Just Slip It On?

When replacing seals, the open parts of the hydraulic system should be thoroughly cleaned first, and impurities and dirty oil should be strictly prevented from entering the system. During installation, use a specialized installation tool to prevent scratches from sharp metal edges or even fingernails. Do not directly slip the sealing ring over the threaded portion of the component. In special cases, a simple installation tool should be made or the threaded portion should be wrapped with plastic film, and clean hydraulic oil of the same type should be applied to the tool or film. The statement "just slip it on" is actually incorrect.#drill to drill into concrete#

IV. Spare sealing rings, can they be left lying around?

Since sealing rings contain many additives, they are prone to aging and deterioration. Therefore, during storage, they should be protected from sunlight, moisture, and heat, and should not come into contact with acidic or alkaline substances. Generally, their shelf life should not exceed one and a half years. They should not be strung together and hung up for storage with ropes or wires. Therefore, leaving spare sealing rings lying around is not acceptable.

V. Dirty oil, just throw it away!

Besides the rancid and deteriorated hydraulic oil, a significant amount of hydraulic oil and lubricating oil can still be used. Hydraulic oil that is only mixed with metal particles can be reused after sedimentation and filtration. Heavily polluted oils, after simple treatment, can be used for lubrication of rough processing equipment and rust prevention of outdoor equipment, or waste oil can be collected and turned over for waste oil recycling, thus saving energy and reducing waste. While simply dumping it away is convenient, it pollutes the environment and violates the principles of sustainable development.#drill to drill into concrete#
