How To Maintain The Tracks Of A Rotary Drilling Rig

The primary purpose of rotary drilling rigs (also known as rotary drilling machines, long auger drilling rigs, and small rotary drilling rigs) is pile drilling. Since the tracks of almost all pile-laying equipment are rarely used, the maintenance of the undercarriage is easily neglected. However, a malfunction in the undercarriage can result in significant downtime and repair costs. To reduce operational losses and repair costs due to downtime, it is crucial to prioritize the maintenance and inspection of the undercarriage.#pile rig machine parts#

During construction, the track tension of rotary drilling rigs (also known as rotary drilling machines, long auger drilling rigs, and small rotary drilling rigs) should be adjusted according to the soil conditions to accommodate variations in soil types at different construction sites. This also extends the machine's lifespan. In soft soil, mud easily adheres to the tracks and track links; therefore, the tracks should be adjusted slightly looser to prevent abnormal stress on the track links caused by mud adhesion. On construction sites with abundant pebbles, the tracks should also be adjusted slightly looser to prevent the track plates from bending when traversing pebbles. When working on firm, flat ground, it's best to adjust the tracks slightly tighter. Track tension adjustment: If the tracks are too tight, the travel speed and power will decrease. This not only leads to reduced work efficiency but also causes abnormal wear due to excessive friction on the pins and bushings. Conversely, if the tracks are too loose, they will rest slackly on the drive sprockets and track rollers, causing even greater wear or damage. Furthermore, when loose tracks sag excessively, they may come into contact with the frame and damage it. Thus, even with a reinforced undercarriage, improper adjustment can lead to unexpected malfunctions.

When operating rotary drilling rigs (rotary drilling machines, long auger drilling rigs, and small rotary drilling rigs), it's also important to reduce wear. Track rollers, support rollers, drive sprockets, and track links are all easily worn parts; however, the degree of wear can vary significantly depending on whether routine inspections are performed. Therefore, with a little time and proper maintenance, wear can be well controlled. Continuing to use the machine with some track rollers and support rollers malfunctioning can lead to uneven roller wear and track link wear. If a malfunctioning roller is found, it must be repaired immediately to prevent further malfunctions. Repeatedly traveling on sloping ground and making sudden turns over extended periods will cause the sides of the track links to come into contact with the sides of the drive and idler wheels, increasing wear. Therefore, traveling on sloping surfaces and making sudden turns should be avoided as much as possible. Straight-line travel and sharp turns effectively prevent wear.#pile rig machine parts#

Bolts and nuts should be carefully inspected: During prolonged machine operation, vibrations can cause bolts and nuts to loosen. Bolts and nuts on the lower running gear are particularly susceptible to this. Continuing to operate the machine with loose track shoe bolts will create gaps between the bolts and track shoes, potentially leading to cracks in the track shoes. Furthermore, these gaps can enlarge the bolt holes between the track and track links, resulting in the inability to tighten them properly and necessitating replacement of the track and track links. Therefore, bolts and nuts should be inspected and tightened regularly to reduce unnecessary costs. The following parts should be inspected and tightened: track shoe bolts; track roller and carrier roller mounting bolts; drive sprocket mounting bolts; travel piping bolts, etc. Parts that do not require maintenance should also be inspected.

In short, operators are reminded to pay close attention to the condition of the tracks of rotary drilling rigs (including long auger drilling rigs and small rotary drilling rigs). For example, are the bolts loose? Are the carrier rollers and track rollers unable to rotate? Are the carrier rollers, track rollers, and drive sprockets leaking oil? Ignoring these abnormalities can ultimately lead to serious accidents. Damage to related components due to broken bolts, or uneven wear of the carrier rollers or track rollers, will significantly increase repair costs.#pile rig machine parts#
