Today, Northern Foundation Rental, a rotary drilling rig manufacturer, will explain the working principle of rotary drilling rigs.#high speed drilling machine#
Working Principle of Rotary Drilling Rigs:#high speed drilling machine#
I. A rotary drilling rig can be defined as a pile driving machine that uses a auger bit, rotary bucket, and other working devices to drill wet and dry pile holes. It employs rotary drilling to remove soil in successive cycles to achieve hole formation. This machine can be equipped with casing, long auger drill bits and their drive devices, underreaming buckets and their auxiliary devices, diaphragm wall grab buckets, precast pile hammers, and other construction devices.

II. The main components of a rotary drilling rig consist of a working device (mast assembly, luffing mechanism, main and auxiliary winches, power head, drill rod lifter, follower frame, etc.) and a chassis (slewing mechanism, traveling mechanism, underframe). After the rotary drilling rig enters the construction site, the mast angle is adjusted through the luffing mechanism and mast leveling control system to allow the drill bit to drill vertically.
The power head provides torque to the drill string and drill rod, causing the drill bit to rotate and cut. Simultaneously, the pressure cylinder transmits pressure to the drill rod and drill bit through the power head, achieving pressurized drilling. When the drill bit is full of excavated material, the main winch lifts the drill bit away from the borehole, the main unit rotates to a certain angle, the drill bit bottom door is opened to empty the excavated material, the bucket door is closed, the rig returns to the drilling location, the drill rod is lowered, and the cycle repeats to lower the drill bit into the hole for drilling.#high speed drilling machine#
III. Rotary drilling rigs mainly consist of a power system, operating system, travel system, and drilling system (guide column, drill rod, drill barrel, and long and short augers).
The drilling system comprises the drill rod and drill bit. The drill bit consists of an auger and a slag bucket, available in various forms, allowing for selection based on different geological conditions. The drill rod uses a chip-driven mechanism to rotate the drill bit, transmitting the pressure and torque required for drilling. The rig is equipped with horizontal and vertical leveling systems to ensure the verticality of the borehole and to display the drilling depth in real time, facilitating better monitoring of the construction progress. This drilling rig is highly efficient and widely applicable, with different drill bits available to suit various geological conditions. There are over 20 types of drill bits, commonly including: double-bottom drill bits (for soft sand and gravel layers), pot-bottom drill bits (for general soil layers), multi-blade cutting drill bits (mostly used for pebbles or dense gravel), S-shaped conical bottom drill bits (for clay layers), and bottom-cleaning drill bits (for removing sediment), etc.#high speed drilling machine#
